Environmental Law

Environmental_Law.jpgAdams Broadwell Joseph & Cardozo has one of the leading California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) practices in California. CEQA is the state’s most comprehensive environmental statute. CEQA requires government agencies to analyze and mitigate environmental impacts before most projects may be approved. CEQA also requires agencies to consider economic and community benefits before approving projects that can result in serious environmental harm. NEPA imposes similar requirements on federal agencies. ABJC represents labor organizations, community, environmental and other public interest groups and individuals seeking to enforce compliance with CEQA and NEPA. The firm has a particular expertise in assessing the full scope of legal and regulatory issues associated with the permitting and approval of large scale industrial, electric utility, residential and commercial projects and participating in those permit approval processes.

The firm’s practice also includes protecting the state’s natural resources by ensuring compliance with the federal and California Clean Air Acts, the Clean Water Act, the California Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, the federal and California Endangered Species Acts and federal and California laws governing hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
